Introducing Rico
compscigrad posted a photo:
My mom recently brought home a cute little Yorkie Poo that she decided to name Rico. She asked me to come up with a name, and I went with Barack or Brian or Barry, but she did not like any of them. So Rico was her choice. Here he is sitting on my mom's lap on the day we brought him home.. We really couldn't leave him alone and we had to carry him up and down the stairs.
He was born Feb 4th and we got him from a breeder. We're still house training him and he loves to give non-stop kisses on the mouth (Yuck!).
Say hi to Rico! The newest addition to the family.
Better Lenses Take Better Photos
compscigrad posted a photo:
This picture was taken with the 35mm f/1.4 G series lens from Sony.
The image quality is mind blowing. I kept looking at it and saying "did I take this?"
I'm seriously considering purchasing this lens. But it's 1500 bucks!
Thoughts?

Game 3
Hottest Ticket in Town!!
compscigrad posted a photo:
When everyone knows how huge a Raptors fan I am, opportunities like this come by my way. But I have to admit, this one is by far the most exciting ticket that I've ever had in my posession. This is no doubt the hottest ticket in the city of Toronto.
The ticket doesn't even have a date or an opponent on it!
I'll be sure to take a ton of pictures tomorrow at the game and at the stadium. Only the best ones will end up on flickr. All will probably end up on facebook. Keep an eye out for them.
420 Y'all!

A year later, a newer camera, Same pot heads.
Nothing much here really. I remembered last minute and was in the area. I took this around 5:00 or 5:30.. So I'm sure it was far busier around 4:15 or 4:25.
Facebook has done quite a bit to get the word out about this event.
Paint Chips

Another urban abstract that I thought wouldn't look that nice.. I did my photoshop magic (not too much) and made it look half decent. This was the only exposure of this particular shot.

A bit of a blast from the past. I first found success on Explore with an image of a chain on the campus of the U of G.
Some new techniques I've learned over the last year and a bit, plus the DSLR, I wondered if I could repeat my explore success, or even improve on it..
Green Pipe
compscigrad posted a photo:
I've been looking at this old broken pipe for a while. Every time I passed by it, I said "one day, I'm going to shoot you."
Depth of Foliage
compscigrad posted a photo:
Figured I'd play around with Depth of Field. The subject in the image is the Reynolds building out there in the distance. I used the white window trim to draw your eyes directly to the building.
For those who know the building, they know that the side closest to the camera is actually a glass wall. Kind of like an apple store.
Mossy Bricks
compscigrad posted a photo:
It's been a while since I've done any abstract photography. I went shooting today on the campus of the University of Guelph. This is a wall on one of their old buildings. What really struck me when I saw this was the soft sunlight in the bottom right. The sunlight along with the green moss gave me a feeling of warm life.
Had to capture it.
It'll probably be better quality when I get the 85mm or 35mm.
First Spring Wash 2008
compscigrad posted a photo:
Here's the car. First washing of 2008 after a looooong winter. First pictures since I got it on the road with the Raptors plates. Too bad they've been playing so poorly lately.
Late Night Thesis

Late nights are painful. Working on thesis revisions late at night are just plain cruel.
