Androids! They’re Everywhere!!!

Just when I say I need something Java related to get excited about, Google’s Open Handset Operating System ‘Android’ was announced. I looked at it and thought it was pretty cool. Then I watched the youtube video of the demonstration of the thing. I have to admit, it was getting me a little excited. Not only did it look good and seem very usable, but it’s an open platform that is welcoming developers to develop applications for it! I almost fell out of my chair.  It looks like I’ve found the Java project I can get excited about. I’ve been making progress with the thesis, so I’ve been setting aside time each night to learn something new about this Android. If I could specialize in this thing, I think it could be something impressive to add to my resume.

Anyway, I’ll keep everyone posted as to my progress and try to share as much as I can about what I’m learning through my blog. I don’t know what it is about this Android thing, but I have such a great feeling about it. I really think it’s going to be the next big thing. Believe me, it's not the money I'm excited about. I think it's the openness of it. Oh well, stay tuned for more.
