Keeping myself centred
Submitted by Jason on April 18, 2008 - 20:13.After being really beat up by my thesis revisions over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been keeping myself centred by doing the little things that make my happy. I know what you’re thinking; no, it’s not a post about Drupal.
Now that the sun is out, the weather is warm, and the flowers are growing, I’ve picked up my camera and gone shooting a few times. It’s very relaxing to look at things 10 mega pixels at a time. The thing about Brampton is that there aren’t very many places I can go shooting. Anytime I’m down in Guelph I’ll take my camera with me and take some shots on campus. I attended a Guelph Storm game for the first time. I took my camera with me just to take some picture. I was told picture taking is not allowed. That was a bit of a bummer. Now it’s not so much about getting on explore, it’s more about taking pictures I think are great. If no one else likes them, too bad.
Washing my car is really relaxing too. I get to inspect the surface for new scuffs and scratches. Finding new ones is a bit depressing because my paint is so rare. I ordered paint through the dealership 6 weeks ago and it still hasn’t arrived. But when I’m done washing, my car looks so spotless! I pride myself on my auto detailing skills.
Fixing things on my car is also very relaxing. Mostly because I learn how my car works when I do the work myself, AND it’s cheaper! Most of the parts I changed were simple bulbs and bolts you can get at crappy tire, but the process of doing the fixing was very satisfying.
Sports! Raptors or Blue Jays. Mostly Raptors. I love love love watching Raptors games. I’ve been to a whole bunch this year, and I only missing 3 or 4 games that were on TV. Even the plates on my car are raptor plates. I’m a pretty hardcore basketball fan now.
Dancing is yet another thing I do quite a bit now. Back in October, I tore my groin. It’s been a long and painful recovery. Mostly because I kept dancing while I was healing. But now that I’m somewhat all better, I practice more frequently and much harder than I did in the past. My confidence with my dancing has gone up quite a bit too. I guess it’s because I’m not a nobody in the scene anymore. I practice in Mississauga a lot now, and I’ve even started teaching the younger folks on how to do some moves.
What I haven’t done in a while is hit the gym. I’ve been doing work at home with my push up bars. I’m sure I’ll be back at the gym soon.
